What to Expect

Nexus Health Systems values the ability to partner with families in the care of their loved ones. While our goal is to provide the best care possible, we also know that families and caregivers want to do the same. As a constant source of support and essential participant in your loved one’s care, we understand you play a central role. The information below pertains to a patient’s stay, explaining what to bring, as well as details about our facilities. Our goal is to make you and your loved one feel comfortable before admissions and throughout their time at a Nexus facility.

  •    Nexus Specialty Hospital

    Therapy schedules and courses of treatment are determined by each patient’s individual medical needs and his or her ability to tolerate therapy.

    What to Bring

    • Nonskid slippers
    • Bathrobe
    • Toothbrush and toothpaste
    • Hair brush and/or comb
    • Shampoo and personal hygiene products
    • Denture care supplies
    • Eyeglasses and case
    • Comfortable clothing

    Details About the Stay

    • Private and semi-private rooms with cable television and a phone
    • Family and friends are encouraged to visit between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. daily
    • Wireless internet access in patient rooms and hospital common areas
    • Parking is free to parents/guardians and visitors
    • Hospital cafeteria is open for lunch during weekdays from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
    • Located close to gas stations, groceries, restaurants, churches, hotels, and retail stores
    • Major highways (I-45 North and 242) are easily accessed
  •    Nexus Neurorecovery Center

    Each individual’s program is determined based upon their needs, strengths and preferences. Cognitive re-training, sheltered workshop activities and vocational activities are combined with structured behavioral programs to meet your vocational, educational, social, and recreational needs.

    What to Bring

    Families are encouraged to decorate their loved one’s room with his or her favorite items from home.

    • Casual, comfortable, weather appropriate clothing (at least one week’s supply is recommended; laundry facilities are on site)
    • Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, hairbrush, comb, deodorant, make up, razors, etc.)
    • Small electronic devices (small radio, alarm clock, hair dryer, etc.)
    • We provide towels, sheets, laundry detergents, and fabric softeners, however, patients may bring their own bedding and decorative items from home to personalize their space
    • Assistive devices (wheelchairs, canes, braces, splints, eyeglasses, hearing aids, dentures, etc.)
