Rehabilitation Technician - Full-Time

Description

Under the direct supervision of a licensed practitioner and the general supervision of the Director of Rehabilitation and Child Life Services, the Rehabilitation and Outcomes Technician assists Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapist Assistants, Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants, Speech Pathologists, Certified Child Life Specialist and students in all aspects of physical, occupational and speech treatments that the licensed practitioner deems appropriate to maximize each patient’s functional ability. Assists the Director of Rehabilitation and Rehab department with functional outcomes collection, dissemination, and analysis. Acts as Restorative Care aid to assist the patient in turning, ROM, and transfer schedules. .

  • Assists in the orientation of other rehabilitation technicians. 
  • Transfers and transports patients in a safe and timely manner. 
  • Assists therapists with direct patient care relative to the patient’s age, culture, and condition. 
  • Communicates verbally and in written form with therapists, assistants, students, and other techs to maintain an efficient workflow. 
  • Disinfects and sterilizes equipment after each patient use. 
  • Maintains a clean working environment. 
  • Tracks receive, distribute, and restock supplies. 
  • Performs related duties as required. 
  • Provides quality patient care and maintains a professional relationship with patients and families. 
  • Files notes, pick up charts from medical records, sends notes to medical records, answers telephone, and performs departmental copying. 
  • Adheres to infection control policies and procedures. 
  • Assists nursing staff with getting patients out of bed as instructed and scheduled by Rehab staff. 
  • Seeks out other employees to offer assistance when their duties are completed. 
  • Maintains the rehabilitation department, storage area, and supply areas in an orderly manner. 
  • Updates boards in the patient rooms to reflect transfer, ambulation, and ADL status as required. 
  • Check with the nursing staff before treating the patient to ensure the patient’s medical stability. 
  • Reports to nursing staff regarding patient performance with rehabilitation sessions if needed. 
  • Reports to a licensed therapist regarding patient performance with rehabilitation sessions. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 
  • Checks and records hydro collator temperature daily. Reports any deviations in temperature outside of acceptable range to the Director of Rehabilitation.   
  • Cleans hydro collator every month. 
  • Totals and turns in daily therapy charges. 
  • Removes broken equipment for repair. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 
  • Updates information boards at each wing regarding patient treatment times. 
  • Ensures all outcome data is complete and entered into proper databases and folders. 
  • Creates reports designated by Rehab Director that reflect outcomes of patients. 
  • Create, update, organize, and file forms as instructed by the Director of Rehabilitation.

Job Requirements

Experience

  • Prefer one (1) year of experience in acute care or rehabilitation setting 

Education Required

  • Minimum of High School degree or equivalent.

Additional Information

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: 

  • Must be certified in CPR 
  • Must maintain current certification in good standing during employment with this facility or obtain within 30 days. 
  • Attend behavioral management and de-escalation techniques training as required by the facility. 
  • Certification in behavior management or related (SAMA, ABA, PIP, etc.)
