A Texas-based inpatient behavioral program for teens.

For teens facing serious behavioral and psychiatric challenges, finding the right care environment isn’t always simple. When acute behavioral needs or co-occurring medical conditions are involved, traditional residential treatment centers and psychiatric settings often aren’t equipped to provide the level of support required. That’s why Nexus Health Systems developed the True North Program.

Combining 24/7 psychiatric and medical care, trauma-informed therapy, and concurrent, accredited education, we provide a structured environment in which teens can stabilize, process trauma, and build healthy coping skills. Families and referral partners nationwide trust our Texas-based hospital and RTC clinical placement options as paths toward lasting, whole-person healing. At Nexus Health Systems, we’re committed to mending minds.

The True North Program is ideal for teens needing specialized intervention after:

  • Failed residential behavioral program placements
  • Repeated crisis admissions
  • Family or system breakdowns
  • Discharges from other inpatient settings

Our goal is to equip teens with improved emotional regulation, behavioral stability, and self-awareness, thereby reducing the likelihood of future placements.

Arrow Down

Matching teens to the right level of care.

We offer two distinct treatment environments within the True North Program,
each designed to serve adolescents at different levels of acuity.

True North Program – Residential
Treatment Center (RTC)

True North Program – Residential Treatment Center (RTC)

For adolescent girls ages 13 up to 18 with psychiatric and/or medical needs, the True North RTC Program offers a safe, clinically guided environment. Here, residents build coping skills, receive ongoing therapy, and continue their education through our TEA-accredited partnership. This supportive residential setting is ideal for girls who need long-term behavioral care.

True North Program – Hospital

True North Program – Hospital

For boys and girls ages 11 up to 18 with more acute psychiatric and/or medical needs, the True North Hospital Program provides an inpatient, med-psych environment. With 24/7 medical management, structured therapeutic programming, and TEA-accredited education through the University of Texas University Charter School, this setting is designed for youth who require intensive, specialty support as they make progress.

We’re here to help with difficult placement decisions.

We collaborate with discharge teams, case managers, physicians, and residential transfer coordinators to ensure teens are placed in a safe environment that meets their psychiatric, behavioral, and/or medical needs. Reach out to our admissions team to discuss placement options and next steps.
