What to expect when a child admits to Nexus’ pediatric hospital for children, adolescents, and young adults in Houston
When the patient’s first admitted, they’re welcomed by our front desk team. They’ll have them fill out some paperwork and they’ll get the child right to the room. The nursing staff is already ready to go. They know when the patient’s coming. They know everything about that patient before they come in.
Accommodating your requests because we care
Being a smaller facility, we’re able to accommodate patients quicker and respectfully because it’s hard when you go into a big hospital, you’re waiting a really long time, or the bed’s not ready or the room’s not ready here. We’re prepared.
What to bring for your child upon admission
Patients will need some things when they admit, since they’re gonna be here with us for a while, we do ask that they bring one to two weeks of clothes. We ask that if there’s anything from home they want bring in that kind of helps with being a little sad or anything. We highly recommend that. So, posters or books, picture frames you can put on your desk just so you can have that memory from home. We do allow electronics, but some units do have restrictions. We offer free WIFI as well, so they can bring different things to make it feel more homey, just because that’s the goal.
