Nexus’ children’s hospital in The Woodlands is the only inpatient program in the country serving children, adolescents, and young adults with Prader-Willi Syndrome, or PWS. The Jump Start Program offers personalized calorie-controlled diets, set daily schedules, and individualized physical training regiments. Behavioral health supports are also incorporated to help patients reach their personal health goals. Children with PWS or other weight-related diagnoses thrive in this safe and highly structured environment — because we’re focused on mending minds.

Jump Start Program
Structured environment to reach weight loss and behavior management related to Prader-Willi Syndrome or other weight-related disorders
Standards of Care
- 21 patient beds across private and shared rooms and bathrooms
- Rehabilitation gym used for individual and personal exercises to increase endurance, improve pace and navigate a new environment
- Activities room for physical, emotional, and social skills development, including recreational therapy sessions
- Designated eating space to maintain food security to minimize food seeking behaviors and increase food structure
- Mental health services, including behavior management, mental health, individual and group therapy interventions
- Physical, occupational, and speech therapies
- Recreational therapy, pet therapy, and activities that promote prosocial interactions
- Individualized nutrition plans developed by registered dietitian
- Daily physician, physician’s assistant, and nurse practitioner coverage
- 24-hour nursing coverage
